Justin Fowler Awarded Team Kendall Racer of the Year
for His Accomplishments On and Off the Track
Justin Fowler may be relatively new to the sport of racing, but anyone who has had the opportunity to see him in action won’t be surprised to learn that the 16 year old has been named the 2007 Team Kendall Racer of the Year. As a proud member of Team Kendall, Fowler has improved his racing ability in recent years, largely due to the support of his family and Kendall Motor Oil.
“Kendall Motor Oil is the best racing oil you can run,” says Carl Fowler, Justin’s father and pit manager. “We have been using Kendall Motor Oil for the past two years and haven’t experienced any problems with our engine.”
Fowler’s path towards this Team Kendall accolade began at age 11, when he discovered Go-kart racing at the local speedway with his father. He and his father did not have any previous racing experience, so they spent hours reading racing articles online before eventually purchasing Justin’s first Go-kart from eBay.
Fowler took to the track quickly, winning his very first contest. He raced Go-karts until the age of 14 and earned a remarkable 47 victories. During the course of his first few years behind the wheel, he finished third overall at Kennedale Speedway; a tremendous feat for someone so new to the sport. Each win made Fowler hungry for even more competition, causing him to eventually transition to the more advanced Hobby Stock racing circuit.
Fowler is currently racing IMCA Hobby Stock cars against some of the toughest competitors in the series, and he continues to impress fans who are skeptical of such a young driver. He finished ninth within the IMCA Southern Region, despite being one of the youngest racers within his division and being unable to race a full schedule due to school.
“Justin’s fair and competitive nature at the track has made us proud to support his racing career,” says Team Kendall sponsor, David Harrell, outside sales representative at Double C Oil in Granbury, Texas. “He dreams big and does whatever it takes to make sure his goals are realized.”
The two-year member of Team Kendall has faced his fair share of obstacles on his road to success, the biggest being the age difference between himself and other drivers. To overcome the times when he isn’t viewed as a true competitor, Fowler channels this doubt into positive motivation.
“Racing is my passion and I love being able to share this experience with my father,” says Fowler. “He has taught me to stand strong and remain focused throughout all the challenges that I have faced in my time racing.”
The monetary commitment that goes hand-in-hand with racing has also posed a challenge for Fowler and his family. But Kendall Motor Oil and his Team Kendall sponsor, Double C Oil, have played a big part in relieving that stress for Fowler, which is something that his entire family greatly appreciates.
“Racing is a very expensive sport due to ongoing maintenance costs,” explains Fowler senior. “Double C Oil’s support through the Team Kendall program has given us the means to keep our car running smoothly and alleviate certain financial burdens. We are extremely grateful and look forward to being a part of the Team Kendall family for years to come.”
