Kendall Motor Oil is thrilled to name Cory Haas as the May 2008 Racer of the Month. Haas has been the man to beat at the racetrack for more than 20 years. As a proud member of Team Kendall for the past four years, Haas credits much of his continued success to the support provided by the program.
“When I hit the track, the one thing I’m thinking about is winning, and keeping my engine in excellent running condition is crucial to coming in first,” explained Haas. “We never worry about our engine's performance because we run on a number of Kendall Motor Oil products that stand up to the harsh operating conditions of competitive racing.”
His passion for the sport began at age 10 when he first sat behind the wheel of a go-kart at Hunterstown Speedway. Following a slew of go-kart races at the Pennsylvania dirt track, Haas advanced to racing micro-sprint cars. Eventually, Haas progressed to the 358 sprint car class, in which he has earned his most notable accomplishment to date − seven first place finishes in the division championship.
The 2008 season got off to a slow start for Haas due to a crash at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa. which left him with minor burns to his ankles. Showcasing his resilient nature, Haas returned to the driver’s seat just three weeks later and is now poised to take on 50 races throughout the course of the season. His unwavering drive to be number one at the track is what motivated him during this unexpected setback.
"We make an effort to support local racers and Team Kendall has been a great platform to do so," explained Michael Allen, co-owner of Allen Oil Sales in York, Pa. "Cory exemplifies true dedication to the sport of racing and we are proud to be a part of his winning team."
For Haas and his team, there is no off-season from racing. Long hours in the shop focusing on improved maintenance practices, along with training throughout the year, has helped this team to secure those seven 358 sprint car championships − a number he hopes to increase as the 2008 season gets underway.
Team Kendall is proud to be a part of Haas’ team and wishes him the best of luck this season!
